OUR IMPACT NOW.

Teach Brother Teach!

Teach Brother Teach! was created by S. Neal Currie Jr, a long-time Albany educator and Executive Director of the Fundisha Center, to address the scarcity and lack of support for Black male teachers in the Greater Capital Region of New York. Teach Brother Teach! has a mission to build a cadre of outstanding Black male educators that will serve as a professional support group to those who are committed to improving their communities by making a direct and positive impact on the lives of students in the city of Albany and beyond.

With a desire to support Currie’s mission, and recognizing what a powerful impact a more equitable education system can have on the development and aspirations of Black students, the Business for Good Foundation was proud to support the Teach Brother Teach! program with materials that included digital, print, event and video marketing collateral. With a new sizzle reel, event signage, presentation and a new logo and branding, Teach Brother Teach! held its first cohort and leader workshop in April 2024. With Currie’s passion, and materials provided by the Business for Good Foundation, we expect the program to reach greater heights in the years ahead, creating educational careers and generating improvements in schooling for all students.

Having at least one Black teacher in elementary school cuts the high school dropout rates of low-income Black boys by 39 percent, Our goal with Teach Brother Teach is to encourage and support Black men considering education as a profession. Our support of these men will ultimately create a more equitable education system – where Black boys feel a greater sense of connection and inclusion at school.
